Privacy policy

This policy explains what information CharacterBee (“we”, “us”) collects through characterbee.com, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. If anything is unclear, email ask@characterbee.com.

What we collect

• What you send us. When you use a form on this site, we receive the details you enter: usually your name and email address, and, if you choose to give them, your phone or WhatsApp number, city, school or company, and your message. We receive it by email and also keep a copy on our own server, so that no message gets lost.
• Anonymous visit statistics. Our own server counts page visits and taps on things like WhatsApp buttons, downloads and the Kids’ corner games, so we can see what is useful. It notes the page, the site you came from, your type of device and browser, and your time zone, which tells us roughly which country visits come from. It uses no cookies and does not store your IP address: a visitor is counted with a code that changes every day and cannot be traced back to you.
• Basic technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. These are used to keep the site running and secure.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How we use it

• To reply to your message and follow up on it.
• To arrange the orders, sponsorships, projects or volunteering you have asked about.
• If you sign up for updates or join a waitlist, to email you about new books, campaigns or the launch you signed up for. You can ask us to stop at any time by replying to one of those emails or writing to ask@characterbee.com.
• If you share your experience with us, to read it and, only if you allow it, to publish it in the way you chose on the form. We never publish your email address.
• To keep the website secure, for example by blocking spam.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Services we rely on

• Hostinger hosts this website and our email.
• Unsplash hosts some of the photos shown on this site.
• WhatsApp, if you choose to message us there. WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies to those chats.

How long we keep it

We keep your messages for as long as we need them to help you and to keep reasonable records. You can ask us to delete them at any time. Visit statistics are deleted after about 13 months.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing ask@characterbee.com. We handle personal data in line with the laws that apply to us in India, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Children

This website is meant for parents, teachers, schools and organisations. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us their details, contact us and we will delete them.

The games and the games in the Kids’ corner never ask for names or other details. Stars, unlocked levels, best scores and the honey jar are saved only in the browser on your own device, and we never see them.

Security

This site is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection, and form submissions go straight to our own server. No way of sending data over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable care to protect what you share with us.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
